2014 Labjovem Exhibition brings together 38 works by young creators of the Azores
The Regional Director for Youth revealed today that the fourth edition of LABJOVEM - Young Creators of the Azores Competition has registered applications from 188 projects, of which 38 were selected to join the 2014 LABJOVEM Exhibition.
Speaking at the presentation of the results of LABJOVEM in Ponta Delgada, Pilar Damião stressed that the selected projects come from São Miguel (20), Faial (8), Terceira (8) and Pico (2).
The winner of each area in competition will be awarded a training grant in the amount of 1,500 Euros; the total being of 11 grants.
The winners of the 11 areas in competition are as follows: Rodrigo Dias Filipe (Architecture), Ruben Miguel Faria Ferreira and Ana Sofia Vasconcelos Sousa (Performing Arts), Catarina Vieira Pereira (Plastic Arts), Ricardo Emanuel Covas Aço (Fashion Design) and Vanessa Franco da Trindade (Graphic Design), Paulo Vicente da Silva Lima (Photography), Diego Ares Liñares (Illustration and Comics), Flávio Miguel Fraga da Silva (Literature), Teresa Gentil (Music) and Bruno Pereira Sousa (Video).
After being showcased across the archipelago, the 2014 LABJOVEM Exhibition will travel to Lisbon where it will be featured at LX Factory in November.
"Our goal is to stimulate and acknowledge artistic creation of Azorean youngsters among their peers as well as to promote dialogue between artists, experts and the public in general," said Pilar Damião.
The LABJOVEM competition - Young Creators of the Azores a project developed the Regional Government, through the Regional Directorate for Youth in partnership with "Burra de Milho" Association, which aims to encourage and promote young artists from different artistic areas, serving as a platform for a new generation of Azorean artists.
With programmes such as LABJOVEM and PÕE-TE EM CENA, the Regional Government has provided all Azorean youngsters with the opportunity of sharing creative experiences. In this context, the Government has also boosted the labour market in accordance with the goals of the knowledge economy under the 2020 Agenda by promoting creativity, innovation and knowledge," said the Regional Director for Youth.
