The Autonomous Region of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Youth, will attend the third meeting of the PYE - "Promoting Youth Employment" project to take be held in Krapina-Zagorje, Croatia.
The assembly, which began on January 30 and runs until February 4, is discussing several themes: Youth in the Labour Market; Training and Education Programmes and Institutions; the Expansion of Employment Opportunities and Entrepreneurship.
The PYE - "Promoting Youth Employment" project, presented by the Assembly of European Regions under the EU Commission's Progress programme, involves four countries, including Portugal, England, Croatia and Serbia.
A multinational team of experts from each of the countries involved will hold a three-day working visit to that country in order to assess regional employment policies. During each visit, the expert team will meet with policy makers and the technicians responsible for the programmes to support employment and young entrepreneurs.
This project, which consists of a peer review of Employment Policies targeted at youngsters, already took place in Vojvodina, Serbia, and in the Azores between November 20 and 23 last year. This peer review will be now carried out in Croatia.
The last peer review visit will take place in Hampshire, England.
Upon concluding the visits to each one of the aforementioned countries, a report will be drafted with a series of recommendations and improvement plans on the employment policies of different regions, based on good international practices.
Promoting the exchange of experiences and good practices in the area of Youth Employment, assessing employment policies in four different countries, making practical recommendations and developing action plans to improve youth employment policies to support those with reduced access to opportunities in the labour market are the key objectives of this project.
The closing conference will take place in Brussels where the final conclusions regarding the four Regional Action Plans will be presented.
