Azores Youth Observatory holds international conference "Young People as Actors of Social Change"
The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Youth, and the University of the Azores, through the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences promote the International Conference "Young People as Actors of Social Change" under the Azores Youth Observatory.
The event will take place at the University of the Azores, on December 3 and 4.It will bring together several national and international experts who will discuss the role of youth in social change processes.
In Western societies, marked by multiple strains and mutations, social sciences have produced reflections and research on this subject.
In a cultural and technological environment that emphasises the skills and powers of social actors, this issue, given its multidimensional aspect, will be addressed in a multidisciplinary perspective. It implies a broad theoretical and methodological discussion on the role of actors in the context of social systems.
The opening session of this international conference will take place on December 3 at 9:30 AM, followed by the first panel on "Mobility and Territories."
"Social and Political Movements" is the theme of the second panel of the first day. The following day will be dedicated to the panels "Skills and Jobs" and "Azorean Youth and the Labour World."
The Azores Youth Observatory is a key tool in the study and analysis of the Azorean youth, providing support to the definition and management of policies based on strategic guidelines; its purposes and measures are intended to strengthen the Azorean young people so that may be able to overcome the new challenges.
