The Government of the Azores will increase the support for projects developed by youth associations in the Region, said the Regional Director for Youth.
"We will continue to increase the support for youth associations. They have carried out an exemplary work, of which we are proud to be partners," stressed Lúcio Rodrigues. He spoke Thursday at the end of a meeting with Silveira Youth Group in Lajes do Pico.
Lúcio Rodrigues also highlighted the role of youth associations as "fundamental assets" for the implementation of youth policies in the Azores.
For the Regional Director, "proximity and permanent dialogue are the best way to achieve positive results in the implementation of youth policies in the Azores."
Lúcio Rodrigues pointed out that the Azorean Government, through the Regional Directorate for Youth, is "preparing a public consultation and public discussion on the legal framework regulating youth policies in the Region." According to him, this process "should take place in the coming months in coordination with youth associations."
"The activities promoted by the Regional Government involve thousands of young people every year, either in programmes such as OTL Jovem (youth free time occupation programme), holiday camps, traineeship programmes and or in initiatives promoted by regional youth associations," said the Regional Director.
Lúcio Rodrigues stressed that these activities "involve many thousands of young people who value their paths, their learning and their preparation to be more committed to the future of the Azores."
"Our ultimate goal is to enhance employability, professional qualification and the civic participation of young people. This is what we work for every day," said the Regional Director.
