The Interjovem Card, designed by the Government of the Azores through the Regional Directorate for Youth, will join once again a sports event - the Downhill Cup.
The presentation of the 3rd InterJovem Card Downhill Cup - 1st Regional Azores Cup took place at the Baía dos Anjos Bar in Ponta Delgada on Wednesday night. The initiative, organised by the Azorean Fábio Jorge Paiva, is sponsored by the 2012/2013 Interjovem Card to be presented soon.
According to the Regional Director for Youth, Bruno Pacheco, the partnership between the Interjovem Card and Downhill as well as with other "unconventional" sports has a very special purpose.
As the Card was "designed to enhance the mobility of all Azorean youngsters across the archipelago and, consequently, to promote mobility and the practice of sports among Azorean youngsters," said Bruno Pacheco.
Thus, this partnership meets the policy targeted at the promotion and encouragement of sport developed by the Azorean Government by joining InterJovem Card to sports practice as well as by promoting health lifestyles and youth mobility.
Bruno Pacheco also recalled also that the InterJovem Card broke "barriers," bringing the islands closer, and mentioned that the "youngsters who use the InterJovem Card nowadays will be aware of the Azorean reality in a different perspective."
The 3rd Interjovem Card Downhill Cup - 1st Azores Regional Cup will be played in six competitions: three to be held on São Miguel Islands and the remaining will take place on the islands of Santa Maria, Faial and Pico. The first sports event will start on April 22 in Maia (São Miguel) and the last will take place on September 16 in Água Retorta (São Miguel).
