Pilar Damião highlights "great artistic quality and irreverence" of Walk & Talk Festival
The Regional Director for Youth stated today in Ponta Delgada "the great artistic quality and irreverence" of the Walk & Talk Festival, whose fifth edition will be held from July 17 to August 1.
"At a time when art tends to be, sometimes, by economic imperatives and by a sense of full entropy in postmodern culture, where everything tends to be valid and is not subject to critical reflection, the Walk&Talk Festival distinguishes itself for its great artistic quality and irreverence towards pre-established canons," said Pilar Damião.
Speaking at the presentation of the 5th edition of this festival, the Regional Director spoke that "it was not by change that this event was mentioned in the New York Time last year as a festival that has sparked an artistic boom in the middle of the middle of the Atlantic."
In this regard, the government official emphasised that the Government of the Azores congratulated the Anda&Fala Association for their "major role in the promotion and opening of public spaces."
"It not only managed to bring new audiences to appreciate art, but also promoted critical debate by organising discussion, awareness-raising and interpretation forums on social, cultural and political issues," added the government official.
Organised by ANDA&FALA Cultural Interpretation association, the ANDA&FALA festival is an event that addresses contemporary art in an informal way, thus placing the Azores in the map of creative regions.
The main goal of this initiative is to encourage artistic creation, based on the concept of artists as ambassadors of experience, the local community as a prescriber and the territory as a working context.
The fifth edition of this festival will be marked by artistic residencies, installations, murals, performances, concerts, workshops and seminars involving the participation of over 60 artists and local people in the process of artistic creation.
The event will, once again, count on the collaboration of educational services in order to involve more people in the festival's artistic activities. This year's edition features the performance of various artists in outdoor spaces.
Under the programme of the Walk & Talk Festival, there will be eight artistic residences, including the Contemporary Dance Residence, Sound Laboratory, Contemporary Handicrafts Residence, CMIFurnas Residence, Design Laboratory, Photography Laboratory, Architecture Laboratory and the "Coleção de Amantes" Residence.
