The Regional Directorate for Youth presented today in Ponta Delgada its new communication channel, designated as TVJ, which aims to increase the visibility of youth initiatives and promote the dissemination of youth-related information.
"The direct and indirect involvement of young people in this project will contribute to a better knowledge of democracy," said the Regional Director for Youth at the presentation of the new Web channel, now available at the address www.tvj.azores.gov.pt.
Pilar Damião pointed out that, "in addition to expanding its scope, TVJ aims to overcome the reductionist paradigm centred on a purely formal conception of information, establishing itself as a space where pluralism, recognition and legitimacy gain prominence and centrality."
TVJ is an electronic platform where the activities developed by young people will be disseminated under the Regional Government's programmes, such as projects or initiatives promoted by young people or youth associations as well as documentaries, news, articles and videos.
It is organised by headings that are periodically fed with videos produced by the communication team of the Regional Directorate for Youth, young people or entities developing projects for youth. The platform accepts several formats.
In this context, Pilar Damião called for the participation of young people, through the creation of videos on works, plays, music, exhibitions, reports, documentaries, opinions and projects for young people or featuring young people, among others.
With this participation, "young people will contribute to the setting of the Webtv, thus taking active part in the dissemination of youth information and the construction of increasingly deliberative democracy."
