Regional Directorate for Youth brings “Get inspired, Learn and Act” project to the island of Terceira
The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Youth, will promote on the island of Terceira the “Get inspired, Learn and Act” project together with the “Enformar Informal" (informal training) programme; the latter aims to support the creation of specific projects for youngsters at risk.
The initiative “Enformar Informal” starts Wednesday, October 1, and will run over the next five months in the cities of Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória. It is addressed at youngsters aged 14 and 18 years, who are in situation of social vulnerability and facing integration difficulties at school.
This programme makes a good use of the dynamic work developed by the Youth Development and Inclusion Centre (CDJI) and Street Entertainment programme of Cáritas - Terceira Island (ARCIT). It is a valuable tool for the positive referral of youngsters to even higher levels of inclusion, empowerment and self-fulfilment.
In the context, the initiative will be developed through workshops on cooking, agriculture and science with the aim of including youngsters in informal learning processes and productive occupation. It also aims to provide them vocational and academic guidance.
“Get inspired, Learn and Act” is a project developed in partnership with entities from 19 municipalities of the Azores. It is in line with the major "goal of the Government, which is to create youth policies that contribute to personal and social development of youngsters, through the acquisition of key skills in non-formal context, indispensable in lifelong learning.
The first edition of this initiative was held in March this year, with the implementation of the project "Recognising Knowledge and Flowers" on the island of Graciosa, whose goal was to provide Graciosa youngsters with an opportunity to have experiences that could be useful in their personal or professional life, thus opening entrepreneurial perspectives.
