The Regional Directorate for Youth presented today in Ponta Delgada the project "Holiday Camps for All," an initiative that will cover more than forty youngsters; it will be held under the theme "Holidays: An asset for all youngsters."
"This is another measure promoted by the Government of the Azores under its strategy for the implementation of social and solidarity programmes," stated the Regional Director for Youth. In this context, Pilar Damião stressed that the initiative "Holiday Camps for All" will "provide a unique experience."
"Holiday Camps for All" is a project targeted at youngsters aged between 11 and 14, who are living in institutions throughout the Region. This initiative will be implemented on two islands.
This initiative intends to provide a week's holiday with several animation activities to these youngsters, who would hardly have this opportunity at the institutions where they are sheltered, given their limited resources.
The project also aims to encourage the inclusion of youngsters in society as well as to promote their personal, social and cultural enrichment by making them better acquainted with the islands where they live.
Furthermore, “Holiday Camps for All" was an initiative developed with the purpose of providing youngsters with several tourist animation activities, stimulating socialisation among participants, promoting the occupation of their leisure time and raising their environmental awareness.
Pilar Damião noted that one of the goals of the annual plan of the Regional Directorate for Youth concerns the "implementation of the Free Time Occupation programme (OTL) for all," which will be achieved with the implementation of different measures.
