Training in Social Youth Entrepreneurship promotes innovative and sustainable solutions
The Regional Director for Youth stated in Angra do Heroísmo that social youth entrepreneurship "represents the search for and implementation of innovative and sustainable social solutions," which will be translated into the creation and development of "alternative and more efficient responses for youngsters."
Pilar Damião spoke at the opening of a training course on social entrepreneurship, organised in Bootcamp format by the Social Entrepreneurship Institute. This initiative involves the participation of 36 youngsters and representatives of youth organisation from six Azorean islands.
Bootcamp is an innovative teaching model that provides participants with the opportunity to develop and create the concept of a new social entrepreneurship initiative for 48 hours in a focused, dynamic and team work environment.
Pilar Damião pointed out that this initiative was created in the context of the Youth+ programme, an initiative of the Regional Directorate for Youth that supports the development of projects targeted at youngsters. According to her, "its purpose is to identify, support, create and promote initiatives with potential in the area of social entrepreneurship with organisations made up of exceptional and committed individuals, who are willing to change the world in more efficient, innovative, inclusive and supportive way."
This initiative is promoted by the Regional Government in partnership with Angra do Heroísmo City Hall and ICHTUS - Youth Association of Porto Judeu.
