The winning teams of the 5th Regional Competition - "IdeiAçores" will participate in an Entrepreneurship Mission to be held in Lisbon between Tuesday and Friday. The initiative is intended to make participants acquainted with new realities and enhance their knowledge.
This mission includes two main components: an educational and an entrepreneurial component. Teams will have the opportunity to meet with local entrepreneurs, universities and business incubators. It also features a cultural component, which will allow participants to visit some of the main sights of Lisbon.
This year, the team from Furnas Basic Education School won in the middle
school level. It presented the project titled “Vulcamélia," a business idea to produce soaps made from glycerin, camellias and clay from "Caldeira de Pêro Botelho" (hot spring).
In turn, the team from Rabo de Peixe Basic Education School won the first place in the junior high school level. They presented a project titled "Bait Cut Machine," which aims to reduce the time spent for cutting bait and improve health and safety at work.
The students from Pico Vocational Training School were the winners in the Secondary School/Vocational Training School category, with the project titled "UME- Mobile Bottling Unit." This business idea consists of bottling wine (bottle and Bag-in-Box box) in the production site, through a mobile unit equipped with rinser, filler as well as with corking, capsule-making and labelling machines.
The Regional Competition - IdeiAçores took place between May 27 and 29 under the programme "Entrepreneurial Education: The Path of Success." It is an initiative developed by the Regional Government, through the Regional Directorates of Youth and Education, in collaboration with the Society for the Business Development of the Azores (SDEA) and GesEntrepreneur; the latter is a specialised company in Entrepreneurial Education that prepared the educational component of the entire project.
The programme "Entrepreneurial Education: The Path to Success," implemented in Azorean schools, aims to encourage the spirit of initiative and dynamism through a different approach from that taken by traditional education.
