This Regional Government department is under the administration of the Presidency of the Government and holds powers in matters related to Parliamentary Affairs. The Regional Secretary has the power to represent the Government of the Azores at the Plenary Sessions of the Regional Parliament as well as at the Conference of Leaders. The Secretariat is also responsible for coordinating the relation between the Regional Government and the Legislative Assembly of the Azores.
This coordination is a key tool in the good relation between the two self-government bodies of the Region, providing a fundamental contribution to the consolidation of Azorean Democracy. Therefore, it will facilitate the communication channels between the Regional Government and the parties with parliamentary seat. On its part, the Government is fully available to contribute to the legislative process, ensuring an effective supervision of governmental actions and providing all the information required by parliamentary parties.
Furthermore, this Secretariat is in charge of coordinating the responses to requests for written questions submitted by political parties.
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs also supervises the area of Youth. The action developed by this department is focused on the definition and implementation of youth policies, with special emphasis on youth emancipation, employment creation, qualification, training and civic participation.
In addition to matters related to Institutional Communication, Legistics and the Official Journal, the department also supervises the policies pursued by the Regional Government for the Media sector.
