The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs announced the awarding of support to finance projects in the area of youth policies.
According to the order published today in the Official Journal, the support will be granted to projects developed in the context of Youth Associations, Youth Mobility Incentives, Free Time Occupation, Thematic Holiday Camps as well as Citizenship and Volunteering Holiday Camps.
The support is stipulated in accordance with the decision of the Analysis Commission, which meets several times a year to evaluate the projects submitted to the Regional Directorate for Youth.
"The granting of support to projects awards priority status to the civic participation of the young Azoreans in various aspects. This is the case of projects developed by organised youth associations, individual volunteering projects, exchange and youth mobility projects or thematic holiday camp projects that promote the occupation of free time with useful practices for young people," said Berto Messias.
"It is very positive to note that we have received, throughout the year, numerous applications in the different axes for the promotion of projects that contribute to the learning and civic enrichment of Azorean youth. These projects are primarily intended to strengthen the involvement and commitment of young people in the development of their community and, consequently, of their island and their Region," added the government official.
For the Regional Secretary, "civic participation is widely discussed today in a quite deprecating manner. Nonetheless, applications we receive and the projects we support throughout the year demonstrate the existence of youth civic dynamics in the Azores and the confidence in the future."
