Berto Messias praises role of teachers in "Entrepreneurial Education - The Path to Success" project
The 9th edition of the "Entrepreneurial Education - The Path to Success" project started today at Domingos Rebelo Secondary School in Ponta Delgada with the organisation of a training course for teachers and trainers taking part for the first time in the programme.
On the opening day of this project for the 2018/2019 school year, the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs highlighted the "key role" played by teachers in the success of this initiative, stressing that "without their commitment and availability, it would not be possible to reach so many students and so many schools."
The "Entrepreneurial Education - the Path to Success" project has already involved the participation of 19 thousand students. This year, it is expected to cover more than two thousand students, from basic and secondary education to vocational training, under the guidance of more than 90 teachers.
"This initiative intends to promote a proactive, entrepreneurial culture among children and young people, encouraging their desire to participate, not only from the standpoint of business logic or business creation but also from the standpoint of proactivity towards life and the community," said Berto Messias.
For the Regional Secretary, "this has been achieved by the commitment and merit of students, but also, to a great extent, by the availability of teachers, who play a key role in the success of this project."
After this training, the "Entrepreneurial Education" project will be developed in various school of the Azores, after which finalists will be selected for competing in the IdeiAçores Regional Competition, where they will present their ideas.
