The Government of the Azores started the process of hearing youth organisations as well as those working with youth-related issues, requesting contributions on the revision of the Framework of Youth Policies in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stated that "this support system for youth associations and others dealing with youth-related issues has been in force for almost 10 years and needs to be update in view of the current situation," alluding to the Regional Legislative Decree 18/2008/A of July 7 that implemented this scheme.
For Berto Messias, "this revision should be developed based on a comprehensive dialogue with the institutions working in the area of youth intervention." Therefore, these entities have been requested to "assess the legal document in force and provide contributions on the aspects that should be amended, improved or included in a renewed Framework for Youth Policies in the Azores.
"We want public youth policies to provide the best response possible to the new realities and challenges that are nowadays posed to Azorean youth and, for this reason, we count on the contribution of all those who work with our young people to carry out a more complete, effective and correct revision process," said Berto Messias.
The Framework for Youth Policies in the Azores is the legal document that defines and establishes all support mechanisms for youth organisations, development of public support systems in the area of youth, youth information systems, composition and functioning of youth advisory bodies, and youth participation and co-responsibility processes in defining public policies for this area.
