Regional Government will continue to support young Azorean artists, assures Isabel Rodrigues
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stated that the forth editions of the Labjovem Competition "demonstrates the success of the actions taken by the Regional Government as well as the relevance of this initiative in the projection of young Azorean artists."
"We should continue to support this project and, if possible, to strengthen it," stressed Isabel Rodrigues at the end of a visit to the “Burra de Milho” Cultural Association in Angra do Heroísmo.
The Regional Secretary praised the work developed by the association in the organisation of this project, under an agreement signed with the Regional Government, stressing that this year's edition registered 188 applications, which evidence "the dynamics and the creativity of Azorean youngsters."
In the context of her visit, Isabel Rodrigues also took the opportunity to follow the preparations of the Labjovem Exhibition that starts on Terceira at the Youth and Arts Academy on August 29. The exhibition will travel for the first time to Lisbon, where it will be open to the public at the LX Factory during the month of November.
"The fact that this Exhibition will travel to Lisbon reveals the importance of LabJovem as a project designed to project young Azorean artists in the Azores and outside the Region," stressed the government official.
After travelling to the island of Terceira, the LABJOVEM exhibition will be in Ponta Delgada during the month of September; the exhibition component will on display at Ateneu Criativo while the exhibition of videos will take place at Teatro Micaelense. The event will then travel to Lisbon and, later on, to Faial.
"The Government will continue to promote this initiative by encouraging and supporting the creativity of Azorean youngsters, and contributing as much as possible to the dissemination of their works," stressed the Regional Secretary.
