Regional Director for Communities to attend Holy Spirit Festivities in San Diego, California
The Regional Director for Communities begins Friday a visit to the United States of America and Canada to participate in the Holy Spirit Festivities in San Diego, California, and in the celebrations of the Region’s Day in Montreal, Quebec.
In San Diego, a city with a significant presence of Azoreans, Paulo Teves will participate, at the invitation of United Portuguese Society of Espirito Santo, in the Holy Spirit Festivities, one of the oldest celebrations held in the state of California.
On Friday, June 2, the Regional Director for Communities will attend the hoisting ceremony of the Holy Spirit Flag. On the following day, he will participate in the Mass and Coronation and, later, in procession at the Church of Saint Agnes.
On June 4, Paulo Teves participates in the parade of the Holy Spirit Festivities of San Diego, which marks this year the 107th edition.
The Holy Spirit Festivities of San Diego represent a moment of devotion, celebration of rituals and socialisation for the Azorean community based in this city. This year, the event will feature the participation of folk dance groups and local artists as well as the União Portuguesa de San Diego Philharmonic Band.
On June 5, Paulo Teves participates in the celebrations of the Region Day, held in Montreal, which will be promoted by the House of the Azores of Quebec. This entity represents the Region, the Azorean community and its descendants residing in this Canadian province.
On the last day of his visit, the Regional Director for Communities visits Toronto where he will meet with Ana Bailão, City Hall councillor, and the Board of the House of the Azores of Ontario as well as with the Board of the Vasco da Gama Club in Brampton.
