The Regional Director for Communities will visit the Azorean communities in California, USA, from March 20-25. He will also participate in the 37th annual conference on Luso-American education, an event organised by the Luso-American Education Foundation; this year's conference will be held under the theme "Connecting the World through Languages and Cultures."
On Wednesday, the first day of the visit, Paulo Teves will meet with the Consul General of Portugal in San Francisco, Nuno Mathias. On the following day, the Regional Director will visit the city of San Jose, where he has a scheduled meeting with the board of POSSO - Portuguese Organization for Social Services and Opportunities; he will also have the opportunity of becoming better acquainted with the Portuguese Studies Programme at the San Jose State University.
On the same day, the Regional Director for Communities will meet with the board of Portuguese Athletic Club of San Jose.
On March 22, Paulo Teves will travel to Turlock, where he will meet with young students and Portuguese Language students in the State of California, which will be attended by youngsters of Portuguese descent. This meeting will be followed by a meeting with the board of VALER - Valley Area Living Enabling Resources.
On the fourth day of his visit to California, the Regional Director will take part in the works of the 37th conference on Luso-American education. He has a scheduled meeting with the board of the House of the Azores of Hilmar and will also participate in a gathering with the Azorean community residing in this city.
On the afternoon of March 24, Paulo Teves will meet with the boards of "Irmandade do Divino Espírito Santo Independente" and with the board of "Irmandade do Divino Espírito Santo e Santíssima Trindade" in Sausalito.
The last day of his visit to California includes a meeting with the "Sociedade do Espírito Santo Corporation" as well as with all associations headquartered in the premises: "Irmandade de Santo António," "Irmandade de Nossa Senhora de Fátima," Saint Clare's Portuguese Parish Council, "Irmandade Familiar do Espírito Santo of Santa Clara," "Sociedade Filármonica União Portuguesa of Santa Clara," "Santa Clara Sporting Club," "Club Sport Marítimo of Santa Clara" and the Portuguese American Forum of Santa Clara.
