Regional Director for Community visits State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and Uruguay
The Regional Director for Communities starts Wednesday a trip to South America, visiting the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul and the city of San Carlos in Uruguay.
During his visit to the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, in addition to meeting with the community of Azorean descent and local institutions, Paulo Teves will meet with the Gaucho Institute of Tradition and Folklore, an institution with which he will sign a protocol of cooperation. Moreover, the government official will participate in the 13th anniversary of the House of the Azores of Rio Grande do Sul.
The Regional Director for Communities will also hold a working meeting with the board of the Portuguese Cultural Institute and the Rio Grande City Hall in the context of the Azores' participation as honoured region in this year's edition of Porto Alegre Book Fair. He will also visit the community of Azorean descent residing in Santo António da Patrulha, a municipality with strong cultural ties to the Azores.
On April 2, the Regional Director for Communities meets with the board of the House of the Azores of Uruguay in San Carlos. This city belongs to the department of Maldonado and was founded by Azorean couples in 1763. He has also a scheduled meeting with the local community of Azorean descent.
