Regional Director for the Communities participates in 20th anniversary of the House of the Azores of Santa Catarina in Brazil
From December 5 to 10, the Regional Director for the Communities will visit Brazil, where he will participate in the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the House of the Azores of Santa Catarina. He will also meet with the communities of Azorean descent and local institutions of this Brazilian state and those of the states of Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
On the first day of this visit to Brazil, Paulo Teves will participate in the closing session of the cultural activities organised by the House of the Azores of Rio Grande do Sul in Gravataí.
On the following day, the Regional Director will meet with a group of young athletes from Avaí Futebol Clube in Florianópolis. This team will travel to the Azores in April 2020 to participate in the Under-11 tournament promoted by Clube União Micaelense.
Also on this day, the government official will participate in the meeting of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Azorean Studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
On December 7, Paulo Teves will meet with the Mayor of Laguna, Mauro Vagas Candemil, and visit the Casa de Anita Museum and the Historic Centre of this municipality. He will then travel to Imbituba, where he will also meet with the Mayor, Rosenvaldo da Silva Júnior.
Still in this municipality, he will visit AMOVILA/Azorean House, ACORDI - Santa Catarina Traditional Mill Network Project and the Santa Catarina Whaling Sation/Whale Conservation Project.
On the same day, the Regional Director will also take part in the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the House of the Azores of Santa Catarina to take place in Engenho dos Andrades Mill,in Santo António de Lisboa. The event will pay tribute to several masters of popular culture of Azorean origin as well as to all the former presidents of this institution.
On Sunday, December 8, Paulo Teves will participate in the 18th Meeting of Azorean Culture in São Paulo. He will then travel to Rio de Janeiro, where he will meet on the following day with the Board of the House of the Azores of Rio de Janeiro . On December 10, he will meet with the Board of the Villa Lobos Museum and with the Azorean community residing of Rio de Janeiro.
During this visit to Brazil, the Regional Director for the Communities will make several presentations of the "Azorians in the World" site. It contains the mapping and census of the Azorean population residing outside the archipelago, following the creation of the Azorean Diaspora Council.
