Artur Goulart was born in Velas, S. Jorge, Açores. He did his studies at the Gregorian University in Rome. He was a professor at the Seminary in Angra do Heroísmo. He was also the editor-in-chief of the Azorean daily newspaper União, published by the Catholic diocese. His poems have been published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies. He now lives in Évora, mailand Portugal.

Near the sea
again I am close to myself
the siege is closed the place
retakes the beginning and the end
the breeze of infancy
as the night falls thus
the distance is curtailed
between what I am and myself.
Desired and discreet seesaw
of the waves secrete rhythm
of time without time freely
mirror of water image
fellow partner of the voyage
toward the island once again.
