Carlos Ornelas was born in Raminho, Terceira, Açores.  He is high school teacher.  His poetry has appeared in several literary supplements.  He has published one book of poetry.  He makes his home in Terceira.  

                        …docks of encounter

in any place

                  I feel like going to the docks

I don’t know if it’s the sun

                  or the sea

or a feeling of wanting to leave

or a feeling of wanting to see arrivals

                  the blue rocks sometimes make me enthusiastic

                  because of them I even get lost

                  dangerously

When I plant affection in the paper

I gather reasons for the existence

                             apetece-me ir até ao cais

não sei se é o sol

                           ou o mar

ou uma vontade de partir

ou uma vontade de ver chegar

                           as pedras azuis às vezes entusiasmam-me

                           até me perco por elas

                           perigosamente

              quando semeio a ternura no papel

              recolho razões para a existência
