The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations is under the jurisdiction of the Presidency of the Government and holds powers in the areas of European affairs and external cooperation, immigration, emigration and communities.
As part of his duties, the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations also represents the Region, on behalf of the President of the Government, at the Committee of the Regions of the European Union, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, the Conference of Presidents of Outermost Regions, the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions and, among other organisations, the Assembly of European Regions.
He is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the Regional Public Administration with regard to EU affairs and cooperation relations with external regions and territories.
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations holds powers in the areas of immigration, emigration and the Azorean communities abroad and also oversees the Regional Directorate for Communities.
This space is intended to provide information on the action of the Government of the Azores in the aforementioned areas with the aim of promoting a better understanding as well as the reflection on the issues and themes of interest concerning the Region's external action.
