The Regional Under Secretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation, Rodrigo Oliveira, will participate in the meeting of the Political Bureau of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe (CPMR) to take place in the city of Caen on February 11.
Rodrigo Oliveira will attend the meeting on behalf of the President of the Government, Carlos César, who has assumed the Presidency of the CPMR Islands Commission since May 2010.
The contributions of the CPMR for various subjects under debated in the European Union will be discussed at the meeting, which will take place throughout the day, with special emphasis to the “EU Budget Review,” the “5th Report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion,” “The EU Development Policy,” and “The EU Energy Policy.” Furthermore, the activity plan of the CPMR for 2011 and the financial implementation project are other subjects to be discussed at the meeting in addition to the debates with Members of the EU Parliament and Directors-General of the European Commission on several matters of interest for Regions.
The Political Bureau is the higher political coordination body of the CPMR, being responsible for the basic guidelines that guide the activities developed by this inter-regional cooperation body, which comprises over 160 European regions and 28 European states.
