Government of the Azores promotes International Azorean Youth Meeting in Praia da Vitória
The Government of the Azores promotes the International Azorean Youth Meeting from August 29 to September 2. The event will bring together twenty-five youngsters from the diaspora communities, Mainland Portugal and the Azores.
The meeting will gather representatives from several Azorean associations, including all the Houses of the Azores in the world. It will be held at the Youth and Arts Academy on the island of Terceira in the city of Praia da Vitória. The opening session is scheduled for August 29 at 4:30 PM.
With this initiative, the Regional Government aims to provide a space for dialogue between youngsters from the diaspora and the Region by promoting the reflection on the importance of maintaining and disseminating "Azoreanity" and the role played by youngsters in the communities where they live and their institutions. Moreover, this initiative is also intended to promote and strengthen the ties with the Region.
The programme of the International Azorean Youth Meeting includes nine workshops, under the guidance of organisers from the Azores, Mainland Portugal and the communities, as well as field trips to local institutions and relevant sites on the island of Terceira.
"Youth in the Azores and the Communities," "The Azores and the European Union," "Azorean Cultural Legacy and Lusophony," "Tradition and Modernity," "Youth, Citizenship and Associations: New forms of participation" are some of the themes that will be addressed at this meeting.
