The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations received the Ambassador of Algeria to Portugal, Fatiha Selmane, at an audience held today in Ponta Delgada. It had "a very important meaning" for starting a process of opening relations between the Region and this North African country, namely in the field of trade.
"The Ambassador showed interest in our agriculture, animal husbandry as well as in our milk and meat production," Rui Bettencourt said at the end of the meeting, announcing shortly the visit of an Algerian mission composed of businesspeople government representatives to the Azores.
This visit, which will be prepared in the coming months, aims to "show what our products are, how we produce them and what is our quality, not only in agriculture but also in fisheries," said the government official.
