Regional Government monitors situation of Azorean Erasmus students in conjunction with the University of the Azores
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations spoke early this morning, after a conference with the Dean of the University of the Azores, ensuring that the Government is fully “available” to assist in the repatriation process of young Azoreans enrolled in the Erasmus programme who are currently held in the countries where they were studying. According to him, “this exceptional situation must be duly monitored."
Rui Bettencourt noted that the intention is to "add the support, contacts and institutional influence of the Regional Government to the intense efforts that the University of the Azores is currently undertaking" for the repatriation of these students.
The Regional Secretary also mentioned that, besides the monitoring of the situation of young people wishing to return from Spain and Italy, which has been taking place since last week, there are now situations of repatriation of young Azoreans in Greece, which have "now been brought to our attention."
The Regional Government's assistance to these young Azoreans, like other situations in progress, is being carried out in compliance with the rules and procedures determined by the national and regional health authorities.
