Regional Government promotes multimedia contest for secondary and vocational training school students
Students attending secondary and vocational training schools in the Region may apply for the multimedia contest on the theme "Cultural and natural heritage" until April 23. The event is promoted by the Regional Government in the context of Europe Day celebrations, which will be marked on May 9, and the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
Promoted by the Office of the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations, the contest will select the best work from each island of the archipelago as well as the three best works at regional level.
The best video will be broadcast by RTP/Açores on May 9 and its authors will be awarded a trip to Lisbon and Porto.
Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd best works: 15 and 10 books, respectively, for the school library of the distinguished team. Moreover, there are also participation prizes to be awarded to all members (students and teacher) of the nine finalist teams, including a book and certificate of participation in the multimedia contest.
The initiative aims to stimulate the research and knowledge of the Azorean cultural heritage, namely in its material, immaterial and natural aspects, in order to better apprehend the relevance of heritage for the promotion of identity and the European cultural diversity. It also raises the awareness of the student community and viewers for the importance of these matters, in addition to promoting school works on this theme at local and/or European level.
This contest is open young people up to the age of 20 by May 9, 2018, who are attending the 10th, 11th and 12th forms at regional secondary schools or equivalent levels at vocational training schools.
The teams are composed of three students who must be enrolled at the same school, but may be in different classes or years. Each team will be accompanied by a teacher in charge for monitoring the work and activities carried out under the contest.
The works in competition will be presented in 16:9 format (PAL - European Video System) and have a maximum length of two minutes.
The jury will assess the adequacy to the theme, the relevance of contents, the pertinence of the message, creativity, communication effectiveness, visual impact and originality in addressing the theme.
All videos that the jury considers to be of adequate quality will be posted on the Facebook page "External Relations - Government of the Azores" and on the Regional Government's Youtube channel.
Works should be submitted to the email [email protected] (via www.wetransfer.com or www.dropbox.com) or by post to the Office of the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations at Rua Conselheiro Dr. Luís Bettencourt, nº 16, 9500-058 Ponta Delgada. Furthermore, works may also be delivered in person on CD/DVD format at the same address UNTIL April 23.
The rules and additional information on the contest are available at all secondary and vocational training schools in the archipelago and on the Regional Government Portal at the address http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/entidades/srapre/textoImagem/Concurso+Multimédia+2018.
