According to an order issued by the Regional Secretariat for the Economy, the Government of the Azores will allocate a financial support in the amount of twenty-eight thousand Euros to Holy Christ of Miracles Brotherhood for the organisation of the Holy Christ of Miracles celebrations in 2012.
Luísa Schanderl recalled that "this support is fully justified by the Government's strategic interest in the development of Tourism. In this specific case, Religious Tourism has long been one of the areas with priority status."
The support was awarded for the hard work carried by the Brotherhood as well as for the way how this organisation has been promoting and organising the Holy Christ of Miracles celebrations, which is also a service rendered to the Region, the Tourism sector and the regional economy.
For the Regional Secretary for the Economy, "the battle for boosting the prominence and competitiveness of the Azores destination is a daily challenge that should involve both public and private entities, particularly in the current national and international context.
Therefore, the Government will always support the options that will bring added value to the Azores destination by ensuring new markets as well as the sustainability of the regional tourism sector."
The Government of the Azores has allocated this financial support to Holy Christ of Miracles Brotherhood through the public support scheme to initiatives and events with significant impact in the external promotion of the Azores destination.
