The Houses of the Azores are very useful institutions for the promotion of the Azores in their areas of influence, stated the Regional Secretary for the Economy during a visit to the House of the Azores of New England in Fall River last Saturday.
Vasco Cordeiro conveyed to the officials in charge of this institution the Regional Government’s willingness to further develop the work that has been carried out by the Region as in terms of tourism promotion the role that may be played by the Houses of the Azores is in line with the strategic guidelines defined the Government.
“According to the Regional Secretary for the Economy, “the Region has defined the area of influence of the House of the Azores of New England as one of the privileged targets for the tourism promotion of the Region along with the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut, among others”; for that reason “it was decided at today’s meeting to reinforce the promotional materials on the Azores.”
“For the Government of the Azores these institutions can effectively provide a very important contribution to increase tourist flows,” added the Regional Secretary.
This strategy, said Vasco Cordeiro, “is not only addressed at the ethnic market, i.e., our emigrants and their descendants, but also at the average North American citizen who may find a place where all the necessary information on the Regions will be made available.”
During the meeting held on Saturday, “it was also possible to become directly acquainted with the activities carried out by this institution in New England, especially here in the city of Fall River,” stated the Regional Secretary for the Economy.
