The Government of the Azores has been "working with all partners in the tourism sector to tackle the effects of a sharp decline in the overnight stays registered in the national market," stated the Regional Secretary for the Economy in Ponta Delgada today.
Luísa Schanderl spoke on behalf of the President of the Government at the launch of the book “O Aldeão - Biografia de Edmundo dos Reis Pavão” (The Villager - Biography of Edmundo dos Reis Pavão). The government official highlighted "the capacity that has been demonstrated by the Government and tour operators in jointly developing "better strategies and always looking for solutions that meet the needs of each one." This "is a challenge that we are learning to overcome," stated the Regional Secretary.
According to the government official, "the programmes we are developing together are a clear evidence of the work we are carrying out."
"In the Azores, we have promoted dialogue and we have also managed to provide responses in order to reduce the difficulties felt in the national market."
"For my part, all may count on my full availability to carry out this work," said the Regional Secretary.
