Over a dozen projects representing an investment of 2.5 million Euros and the creation of nearly thirty jobs were approved by the Regional Secretary for the Economy on Wednesday.
The projects approved under the system of incentives "Empreende Jovem" (Youth Entrepreneurship) will be implemented on the islands of S. Miguel, Terceira, Pico, Faial, Flores and Santa Maria in various areas, including Trade, Services, Tourism and Health.
For Luísa Schanderl, these figures "have confirmed the importance of regional incentive schemes in fostering investments in the archipelago, particularly in this case as the applications were submitted under the "Empreende Jovem" initiative.
According to the government official, "the projects approved also evidence that the Region’s business sector is not inactive and it continues to generate opportunities for investment and creation of jobs."
"In order to get an idea of how 'Empreende Jovem' has been able to meet the goals that have led to its creation, one should bear in mind that one hundred and fifty projects have been approved since its entry into force, representing a global investment of nearly 25 million Euros," added Luísa Schanderl.
For the Regional Secretary for the Economy, "this legislative period was marked by profound reforms in the operation of investment schemes. The measures adopted were intended to simplify application procedures, speed up the analysis of applications and reduce the respective payment deadlines.
Hence, we will be able to provide a better response to the liquidity needs of our companies, which will have a significant impact on the maintenance of jobs and the creation of more jobs."
