Support to SATA Rally Azores "is a good investment for the Region," said Vasco Cordeiro
SATA Rally is "a good investment for the Azores" for being "the Region's most important media event abroad," considered the Regional Secretary for the Economy in Ponta Delgada on Friday morning. The government official reminded that the support allocated "represents a significant effort in the current context," but the "results are positive since the goals set for the organisation of this event are fully accomplished with the international promotion of the Azores, such as the case of the partnership with Eurosport channel."
Vasco Cordeiro spoke at the signing of a protocol between Grupo SATA and the Sports Business Group, the entity responsible for the organisation of the aforementioned event, stressing the support awarded by the Azorean Government which was reduced by 150 thousand Euros this year, the total amount being of 850 thousand Euros. This support measure and the protocol signed with Grupo SATA on Friday allocate an additional support of 250 thousand Euros "represents a significant amount of nearly one million Euros, but which is fully justified given the external promotion of the Region."
In addition, "the financial component is not the only one involved as many governmental departments also contribute with logistical support to the organisation of this event." For the government official, "this collaboration between different entities must be an example since it evidences that we can only organise major events with the collaboration of all."
Vasco Cordeiro recalled that "the coming year is a year of great challenges, particularly for the tourism sector." However, "we are here and we will here with the best of our capacities and with the collaboration of all so that we may overcome these challenges." "These partnerships demonstrate the commitment to win these challenges," concluded the Regional Secretary.
