Presenting some of the initiative planned for this year and analysing the activities developed last year was the goal of a meeting between the Regional Secretary for the Economy, Vasco Cordeiro, and the “Portas do Mar” Businesspeople Association.
According to Vasco Cordeiro, the meeting allowed to “realise that the ‘Portas do Mar’ have become an essential infrastructure for the creation of a new connection between the city of Ponta Delgada and the sea, but also for the Region, as this infrastructure has contributed to the promotion of the Azores as a stopover for the cruise ships that cross the Atlantic every year.”
During the meeting, it was also announced that the Port Administration of S. Miguel and Santa Maria (ASPM) will soon move ahead with a project that estimates the reinforcement of the operating conditions of that infrastructure during the winter months, particularly “with the installation of a covered structure to allow the access of people and the operation of services in this period.”
For Vasco Cordeiro, “this is an initiative that will bring many improvements to this space during the winter months.” The meeting also was also held with purpose of “presenting the various activities that businesspeople intend to carry out in the next months.”
