In the context of the World Tourism Day celebrations, which this year take place under the theme “Tourism - Linking Cultures,” the Regional Secretariat for the Economy will develop on all the islands several activities specifically addressed at tourists.
Thus, in order to celebrate this day whether among our visitors or those arriving to the Azores tomorrow, these activities were designed and chosen in accordance to the tourism flows, being adapted to the specificities of each island.
On all islands, handicraft pieces will be offered to all guests staying at local tourist accommodation units. In addition, tourists will have an opportunity to taste regional products at tourism offices.
These celebrations also include street animation activities, such as sightseeing tours while and the passengers arriving from international flights will receive a gift at the airport.
In a message celebrating this Day, which is September 27, Secretary-General of UNWTO - World Tourism Organisation, highlights the role of Tourism “in breaking down barriers across cultures and fostering tolerance, respect and mutual understanding. In our often divided world, these values represent the stepping stones towards a more peaceful future.”
