To the Regional Directorate of Environment (DRA) it competes to support the Regional Secretary in the definition of the environmental politics, to coordinate and to control his execution in the domains of the quality of the environment and of the conservation of the nature and biological diversity and to practice in the Region the competences transferred and legally committed to the Institute of Environment.
The DRA disposes of the next services:
a) Direction of Services of Conservation of the Nature (DSCN);
b) Direction of Services of Residues (DSR);
c) Direction of Services of Monitoring, Environmental Evaluation and Licensing (DSMAAL);
d) Technical Office of the Protected Scenery of Regional Interest of the Vine of the Island of Pico (GTPPIRVIP).
In the ambit of its competences, the DRA will be supported by the services of environment of island.
