The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment, promotes the 7th edition of the Contest "ECO Village, Clean Village," which is open to all local authorities of the archipelago until March 31.
Organised by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment, this public cleaning contest aims to recognise and distinguish the efforts of villages, with the collaboration of the local population, in the cleaning, removal and disposal of waste disposed in public spaces.
In addition to the cleaning effort, the assessment also takes into consideration the environmental awareness-raising actions developed by each village.
From this year, the contest will include two new projects, "My Stream" and "Clean Coast." They are directed to all parishes where there are water lines and shore areas that should be monitored in terms of maintenance of cleaning conditions.
Taking into account the excellent performance of most parishes and the growing number of applications, the Government of the Azores has decided to increase the financial allocation for this environmental programme by 20%. This measure will ensure an average support of about 3,000 Euros to municipalities.
The entire registration process is free. The respective documents and additional information are available at http://servicos-sraa.azores.gov.pt/doit/servicos.asp?id_dep=1&id_form=20. For further information, those who are interested should email to [email protected].
