European Week for Waste Reduction marked with 95 actions throughout the archipelago
The Government of the Azores promotes, in partnership with over fifty public and private entities, the organisation of 95 awareness-raising actions on all islands from November 20-29 to mark the 6th Azores Waste Week.
Implemented by the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment, through the Regional Directorate for the Environment, this initiative encompasses several actions organised by the public and private entities with the aim of raising the awareness of citizens and companies for the proper management of waste.
The planned initiatives are primarily intended to inform about the appropriate destination for the waste produced in the Azores and alert the population to sustainable consumption, promoting an environmental awareness that results in daily attitudes towards the prevention of waste production.
This initiative, included in the 7th European Week for Waste Reduction, counted on the participation of various entities, including the public administration, municipalities and village councils, municipal companies, private companies, waste managing entities and operators, school establishments, and non-governmental environmental organisations.
The programme begins Friday, November 20, at 11:00 AM at Horta Sports Hall with an awareness-raising action that marks the beginning of the European Week for Waste Reduction in the Azores. The event will be attended by the Regional Director for the Environment.
