Government of the Azores launches tender for the redevelopment and operation of Sete Cidades Camping and Caravan Park
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and the Environment, through the Regional Directorate for the Environment, has launched a public tender for the redevelopment and operation of Sete Cidades Camping and Caravan Park on São Miguel.
The tender concerns the provision of public services for the operation of the new Camping and Caravan Park, located in Sete Cidades Protected Landscape, for a minimum of 20 years and up to 30 years, including the redevelopment of that infrastructure. It falls within the policies designed to promote accommodation with the enjoyment of nature.
Interested parties have, as of today, 90 days to submit proposals.
The granting of the exploration includes a comprehensive intervention in that space with the aim of redeveloping the entire infrastructure. It requires the following interventions: the construction of a basic service building; the redefinition of the tent area, with a minimum capacity for 70 tents; the redevelopment of meal and sanitary areas, which will be distributed across the park; and the construction of a parking area for, at least, four caravans.
The operator also has the possibility to expand the service building that will include a restaurant area, the parking area for caravans up to six vehicles as well as to install a maximum of 12 bungalows in the wooded area - six one-bedroom bungalows and two-bedroom bungalows.
With this decision, the Regional Government creates a business opportunity that will generate employment and enhance the tourism offer in the village of Sete Cidades.
