The works in the area surrounding the Carapacho pool on the island of Graciosa are basically concluded. By the end of June, this beach area should meet all the conditions it had before the bad weather conditions that caused damages last winter.
The works comprise various interventions, including the consolidation of walls, the repair of pavements and the removal of the old structure that collapsed into the pool.
Given the need to carry out interventions on the building and on some infrastructures that are showing signs of wear, the necessary procedures for the launch of the public call for tenders for the renewal of Carapacho Thermal Spa are currently taking place.
This intervention aims to provide all spa users with the best conditions.
The technical procedures are being conducted by INOVA. The Government of the Azores expects to launch the public call for tenders for this contract work in early July.
In addition, the purchase of equipment that assures the reopening of the thermal spa with spa services is currently under the awarding process by direct agreement; the reopening of the thermal spa is expected to take place in the second week of July.
