Regional Government promotes information sessions on Management Plans for Island Natural Parks and Action Plans for Biosphere Reserves
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for the Environment, will hold information sessions on the Management Plans for the Natural Parks of São Miguel, Pico and Faial as well as on the Action Plans for the Biosphere Reserves of Corvo, Flores, Graciosa and "Fajãs" of São Jorge.
The sessions on the Management Plans of the Natural Parks will take place on the island of Faial at the Botanical Garden on February 6, followed by the session on the island of São Miguel at the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive on February 10, and on the island of Pico at the Whaling Museum in Lajes do Pico on February 12.
Regarding the Action Plans for Biosphere Reserves, the sessions will take place on the island of Corvo at the Agrarian Development Service on February 6, on the island of Flores at the Santa Cruz Town Hall on February 7, on the island of Graciosa at the Santa Cruz Municipal Library on February 10, and on the island of São Jorge at Calheta Basic Education and Secondary School on February 11.
These sessions intend to promote the active participation of all citizens and the clarification of interested parties on the proposals for these plans, whose public discussion takes place until February 28.
The schedule of each session, the documents that make up these plans and the public participation forms are available on the Spatial Planning Portal, www.ot.azores.gov.pt, and at the services of the Regional Directorate for the Environment, namely at the Nature Conservation Services, the Department of Spatial Planning and at the Environmental Services of São Miguel, Pico, Faial, Corvo, Flores, Graciosa and São Jorge.
