Regional Government promotes public session to collect contributions for development of Lagoa do Fogo Viewpoint project
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for the Environment, promotes a public session on January 27 to present the intervention goals and the prior study of the project for Lagoa do Fogo Viewpoint on São Miguel as well as to collect suggestions and contributions to be considered in the preparation of the final project.
This session, open to all interested parties, will take place at Arquipélago Contemporary Arts Centre in Ribeira Grande at 8.30 pm.
At the event, the Regional Director for Environment, Hernâni Jorge, will present the process as well as the goals and scope of the intervention in Lagoa do Fogo Natural Reserve. Additionally, he will present the previous study for the redevelopment of Lagoa do Fogo Viewpoint conducted by the designers of M-Arquitectos.
This redevelopment procedure aims to manage the presence of visitors by improving and organising visits to that place as well as by controlling access to the ridges and the trail, and avoiding traffic constraints on the regional road. The intervention is designed taking into consideration the management and conservation of this protected area.
The concept underlying the proposed intervention for Lagoa do Fogo Viewpoint was first presented in April 2018 to the members of the Regional Council for Environment and Sustainable Development (CRADS) and the preliminary study was released at a public session in November 2019.
The session scheduled for January 27 is another moment to promote the active participation of citizens, during which interested parties will have the opportunity to present their contributions and suggestions regarding the management of the protected area and the redevelopment of Lagoa do Fogo Viewpoint.
