The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for the Environment, promotes the 9th Azores Waste Week from November between November 17 and 25. Organised under the 10th European Week for Waste Reduction, this initiative includes several actions organised by various public and private entities on all islands.
Any entity interested in promoting awareness-raising and information actions and activities for prevention and management of waste, under the theme "Hazardous Waste Prevention: Time to Detoxification," may register as a Promoter of Action under the Waste Week until November 9, through the form available on the registration platform at http://www.ewwr.eu/register.
The initiative is open to entities that fall into the following categories: Administration/Public Authority; Association/NGO; Company/Industry; School Establishment; Individuals; Other (hospitals, nursing homes, cultural institutions, etc.).
The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is an international initiative aimed at implementing, for a week, awareness-raising actions on the sustainable management of resources and waste, to change the behaviour of European citizens regarding their consumption habits.
The Regional Directorate for the Environment is the coordinating entity of the European Week for Waste Reduction in the Azores. In the 2017 edition, 160 actions carried out throughout the archipelago, involving 69 entities.
