Andreia Melo Carreiro was born in Ponta Delgada on November 22, 1986. She holds a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering (2009) and in Energy for Sustainability (2011), both from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. She completed her PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems (2018) under the MIT Portugal Programme and has more than 20 publications in international conferences and scientific journals.
She is an Energy Efficiency CMPV – Certified Measurement & Verification Professional® accredited by EVO - Efficiency Valuation Organization and is also PMP (Project Management Professional) certified by PMI - Project Management Institute.
Throughout her professional activity, she has managed several European as well as national research and development projects with focus on technological innovations of products and systems, applied to the new sustainable development paradigms: SmartGrids, SmartMobility, SmartCities, SmartHomes and IoT - Internet of Things. She headed the areas of Innovation and Strategy, focusing on increasing competitiveness and business internationalisation. She was responsible for the development and implementation of an internship program in business context with the aim of fostering synergies and cooperation between industry and the academia.
In 2016, she was also responsible for the Project Management Office (PMO) at CEiiA - Centre of Engineering and Product Development, focused on the development of projects, products and services for mobility industries (aeronautics, automobiles, cities and the sea).
