Following the power cut that occurred on the island of Terceira yesterday, the Government of the Azores has decided to hold an enquiry in order to determine the causes of the incident and the consequences for EDA costumers.
In addition to determining the source of the shutdown of the Beljardin Power Plant, the Government intends to know which measures should be taken to avoid a recurrence, particularly with regard to the safety of the island's power supply and the resilience of control systems of the power plant and grid. The enquiry also aims to assess the damages caused by the power cut in order to implement the compensation measures to be developed by EDA in the case of industrial and commercial customers whose activities were affected by the power cut.
The enquiry will be held by the Regional Directorate for Energy.
