Government of the Azores promotes 4th International Meeting with Energy Efficiency
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, promotes the 4th Meeting with Energy Efficiency at NONAGON - S. Miguel Science and Technology Park in Lagoa next Monday, March 5.
The event includes a panel of speakers who will address the theme of "Energy Communities." Under this initiative, a group of individuals sharing the same geographic location implement renewable energy projects; the costs and benefits are shared between community members.
The theme will be presented by Jorge Vasconcelos, president of NEWES, followed by José Nascimento (FÁCIL) who will address "Self-consumption and opportunities in energy efficiency" and Nuno Brito Jorge ( Coopérnico e GoParity), who will address "Crowdfunding and energy cooperatives in Portugal."
"The cooperative energy movement in Europe" is the subject of the paper to be presented Siward Zomer (REScoop.eu). In turn, Nuria Albet (Som Energia) will address the case of the "Energy Cooperative and the model adopted in the Canary Islands."
The concept associated with energy communities could be used by various regional economic agents, such as the industry, tourism, trade and services, thus contributing to the promotion of a low carbon policy in the Azores.
These meetings promoted by the Regional Government aim to raise awareness and disseminate the best practices of energy efficiency with the aim of promoting sustainability and independence from fossil fuels in the Azores, covering the entire population and the various sectors of economic activity.
