Optimisation of consumption and rational use of energy are priorities of the Regional Government
The Regional Directorate for Energy assured that "the optimisation of energy consumption, combined with the rational use of energy, are priorities of the Azorean Government." These goals are now embodied in the protocol signed today with the Agency for Energy (ADENE).
Andreia Carreiro spoke in Lisbon after the signing of the collaboration agreement with ADENE, with the aim of "promoting energy efficiency" in the archipelago.
"The cooperation with ADENE provides for specific goals in terms of promoting energy efficiency for the Region in order to achieve a behavioural change in the use of energy by reducing the energy bill of the Azorean population," said the Regional Director.
In addition to promoting energy efficiency among the population, Andreia Carreiro stressed that it is also intended "to involve several strategic sectors as well as to train and qualify human resources in the areas of energy efficiency and energy management."
In the agreement now signed, there is a clear promotion of the adoption and dissemination of energy labelling of products, awareness of good practices as well as implementation of efficient technologies in electricity use.
"This is a beneficial agreement for the Region, as it is a strong tool in the implementation of pilot projects that the Regional Government has projected for the field of energy, namely in terms of energy efficiency. It involves the commitment of public and private entities," said Andreia Carreiro.
The agreement may be extended to other activities that may be identified by both parties in order to pursue regional goals related to energy policies as part of the key priorities for increasing the competitiveness of companies and the well-being of citizens.
