PROENERGIA supported 267 devices for exploration of endogenous renewable energy resources in 2016
The Regional Directorate for Energy, through PROENERGIA programme, has subsidised the acquisition of 267 last year, amounting to over 165 thousand Euros, thus contributing to greater awareness for the importance of the use of renewable energy and its actual impact environmentally and economically.
São Miguel was the island with the largest representation, registering 60% of the support allocated, followed by the islands of Terceira, with 64%, and Faial, with 6%.
The device with the highest number of applications under this support this programme were heat pumps (48%), heat recovery units (36%) and solar thermal systems (14%); heat recovery units contributed the most to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
In 2016, the Government also subsidised the purchase of five units to encourage the exploration of endogenous and renewable energy resources for the microgeneration of electricity, allowing an installed capacity of 4.25 kW.
The PROENERGIA programme aims to encourage electricity and heat generation, primarily intended for self-consumption by households, companies, cooperatives, non-profit associations and private social solidarity institutions.
