Regional Government holds Meeting with Energy Efficiency dedicated to public transport
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, will hold the 9th Meeting with Energy Efficiency dedicated to the adoption of electric vehicles in public transport next Wednesday, December 18, at Lagoa City Hall, São Miguel Island, at 2 pm.
This Meeting with Energy Efficiency will also be a space to raise awareness and debate emerging practices in the public transport sector, promoting its decarbonation through electrification, while boosting the competitiveness, evolution and attractiveness of this sector.
The ninth edition of this event features three panels. The first two are dedicated to the dissemination of emerging technologies and good practices that have been implemented at national and European level, including a debate on "EMOBICITY - Increase of energy efficiency by Electric MOBIlity in the CITY." This European project intends to develop and optimise mechanisms for the application of European and regional funds towards the promotion of electric mobility.
The third panel is an approach to the Azorean reality in terms of sustainable urban mobility, highlighting the advantages for public passenger transport companies and municipalities in adopting electric mobility, with positive economic, social and environmental effects for the entire archipelago.
The Energy Efficiency Meetings have been held in the Azores with the aim of promoting the decarbonised development of the region, based on the energy sector. They have already focused on Industry, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Public Buildings, Incentive Systems, Energy Communities, Energy Performance Contracts, Electric Mobility, Private Social Solidarity Institutions and the Hospitality Sector.
