The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, will hold the 5th Meeting with Energy Efficiency in Ponta Delgada next Wednesday, May 2, which will address energy performance contracts.
This meeting features a panel of speakers who will analyse this new business approach. It starts with the intervention of João Ferreira, from JesusFerreira Consultores – Energyconsulting, who will address "Methodologies for Energy Performance Contracts - the vision of an energy service company."
Carlos Branco, from SUCH - Common Use Service Hospitals, will address the company's experience in implementing the Operational Programme for Sustainability and Energy Efficiency in Buildings belonging to the National Health Service. In turn, Luís Ribeiro, from Ewen Energy, will talk about good practices and industry case studies associated with energy performance contracts.
Moreover, Paula Fonseca, from the Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra, will talk about pilot projects for the implementation of energy performance contracts by consortia of companies, while Jorge Ramos, from Tecneira - Energy Technologies, will address the theme "Photovoltaic Systems - Energy Performance Contracts."
The business model associated with energy performance contracts to be presented at this meeting contributes to the improvement of energy efficiency through the sharing of risk and responsibilities with facility owners.
Energy performance contracts, associated with energy service companies, are a widely used business model that fosters private initiative and allows different economic agents, such as industry, health, tourism, commerce and services, to implement energy efficiency measures in a meritocratic manner and with less risk.
The Meetings with Energy Efficiency aim at raising awareness, debating and disseminating the best energy efficiency practices with the purpose of promoting and fostering the decarbonised development of the Region.
The fifth edition of this event, moderated by journalist Victor Alves, will be held Wednesday at LREC - Regional Civil Engineering Laboratory at 4:30 PM. The programme will be available at http://online.fliphtml5.com/vsgur/thwl/.
